Completed Projects of Note:
• Developed a initial Valley-wide Master Plan of Type 1, 2, and 3 multi-use trails
• Facilitated the installation of 26 “Share the Road” signs around the Big Bear Lake perimeter
• Completed a network of official Type 3 bicycle routes in the City of Big Bear Lake, including unique signage and guide map
• Completed a signed Type 3 bicycle route through Big Bear City and across the East end of the Valley
Projects in Process:
• Developing a Type 1 multi-use trail around Baldwin Lake
• Completing a Type 1 multi-use trail between Stanfield Cutoff and Division Rd.
• Designing and developing a Big Bear Valley Rim perimeter trail that circumnavigates the Valley using existing trails along scenic ridgelines
On-Going Efforts:
• Further promote trail benefits, including tourism, health, and transportation
• Increase opportunities with appropriate agencies for trail planning, identification, signage, mapping, maintenance, and stewardship
• Acquire grants and donation funding to further Coalition efforts
MOU with the San Bernardino National Forest
The Foundation entered into an official Memo of Understanding with the US Forest Service in 2009 to “to plan and implement mutually beneficial programs, projects, and trail opportunities in and around the Big Bear Lake Valley area of the San Bernardino National Forest.”
