Lance and Levi Ride to Big Bear
On Friday, May 21, 2010, Lance Armstrong and Levi Leipheimer will be riding from Pasadena to Big Bear Lake to compete in the sixth stage of the Amgen Tour of California 2010.
On September 9, 2008 Lance decided to return to professional cycling to help raise awareness of cancer. Lance was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 1996 at the early age of 25. His cancer had spread from his lungs, abdomen and brain. Less than three years after he was diagnosed, Lance won seven consecutive years from 1999-2005 the Tour de France. This will be Lance’s second year competing in the Tour of California.
Lance’s competitor, Levi, has won the Tour of California for the last three years in a row. Levi is a very consistent stage racer in cycling. While riding in the Tour de France 2009, Levi broke his wrist in a crash at the end of stage 12. He was not able to finish the race, but he was placed fourth in the General Classification.
Early in 2009 a new team was formed, Team RadioShack. Lance and Levi both ride for the new team along with 24 other racers from 16 different countries. For eight days in May 2010 two phenomenal athletes will compete together for one title. Who will prevail?
