On October 22, 2009, Big Bear Lake was announced to one of the host cities for the Amgen Tour of California 2010. This journey has been a long and nail-biting one already and it is only early December. The Big Bear Lake Events Office started working on this project Spring of 2009 to make this happen. By June Big Bear’s request for proposal was handed over to the tour for approval. There were over 50 cities throughout California trying to become a host city in the tour, but only 16 cities were selected. After waiting a grueling four months before the announcement that Big Bear was selected now the process begins. Several meetings have taken place of what is expected from a host city from a marketing plan to lodging and food needs for the teams. It already feels like crunch time in Big Bear with less than six months before tour time. Special thanks the Big Bear Events Office, Big Bear Lake Resort Association, City of Big Bear Lake, County of San Bernardino and everyone else that made the tour possible to Big Bear Lake.
